This week’s Eats in the 10 took us to a local favorite with a whole lot of flavor packed into a tiny space—Los Amigos Taqueria, the popular food truck parked just off Federal Blvd next to McDonald’s in Riverton.
From homemade tortillas to bold salsas and unforgettable tacos (surprise ingredients included!), we were blown away by the quality, friendliness, and freshness coming out of this small but mighty kitchen on wheels.
Meet the Amigos
Los Amigos Taqueria is owned by the same owner as El Vaquero, but it’s run day-to-day by his two friends—the “amigos”. While there’s a connection to El Vaquero, the food truck has its own unique identity. “Even the quesabirrias are different here,” they told us. And they weren’t kidding—everything from the flavors to the presentation has its own delicious twist.
What We Tried
We came hungry and left happy—and maybe a little spicy. Here’s what we tried:
🌯 Breakfast Burrito
This one had us right away with its homemade tortilla. You can taste the difference immediately. Filled with cheesy goodness and not overly heavy, it’s a solid breakfast (or anytime) choice. “I love how melty the cheese is,” one team member said, “and it’s not greasy or overwhelming like some breakfast burritos can be.”
🌮 Tacos: Al Pastor, Asada, Lengua
One of our favorite moments: handing Scott a lengua taco without telling him what it was. “This steak taco is awesome!” …only to find out it was actually beef tongue. Super tender and flavorful, and yes—it really does taste like steak! It’s a great intro to something different if you’re feeling adventurous.
🌽 Esquites
Think of it like Mexican street corn (elote) but in a cup. Creamy, cheesy, and topped with salsa macha and Tajín, this warm side dish was packed with flavor. “Warm, savory, with a little spice” Rachel noted, “they nailed it here.”
🥪 Torta Ahogada
Normally, a grilled sandwich with your choice of filling, this one is drenched is spicy red salsa. “I didn’t expect to love it—but the flavor is just so good,” Amanda said. It’s messy, yes, but worth every bite.
Why You Should Visit
Aside from the amazing food, the Los Amigos crew is friendly, welcoming, and keeps a super clean and organized food truck—something we always appreciate. Everything is made fresh daily, from the meats to the tortillas, and nothing feels pre-made or reheated.
They’re open Monday–Saturday from 8:30 AM to 8 PM, and the plan is to go seven days a week during the summer. You can order ahead or place takeout orders easily by phone (307-480-8279) or through Facebook Messenger—and trust us, you’ll want to order more than you think.
