(Riverton, WY) – Earlier today, July 22, County 10 reported that the Riverton Police Department shared details about an overnight community watch operation, which was conducted in an effort to crack down on thefts in the community.
RPD shared updates on this effort throughout the day, the last of which states that eight juveniles were ultimately arrested for various charges.

Riverton Police Officers had been investigating a series of thefts on the south side of Riverton for the past day. At around 5:00 AM Tuesday morning, our 9-1-1 center received a call of subjects rummaging through vehicles near Augusta Drive. Officers arrived to the home within 2 minutes and was able to capture 6 juveniles getting ready to leave the area in a car. The officers stopped the car and recovered several items which had been reported stolen over the past 2 days.
Officers learned that two other subjects had been involved in the thefts. The two additional suspects were located and arrested with the assistance of BIA. One of the subjects was a juvenile who was arrested on a Riverton Police warrant for evading police in a stolen truck from a case a month ago.
One 17 year-old male was booked into Fremont County Jail for Felony Evading/Vehicle theft warrant, aggravated burglary and felony theft.
Three other males, all age 14, were charged with serious crimes including aggravated burglary, burglary and conspiracy. They were also taken to the Fremont County Jail.
Three females and one other male juvenile were charged with property crimes and released to their parents/guardians until their court date. Ages range from 14-16 year of age.
All the property which had been stolen in the past 48 hours has been recovered by our officers.
Due to the suspects all being juveniles, the names of those arrested were not shared, and further follow-up will be unlikely.
