The Riverton Fire Department and Fremont County Sheriff’s Office dispatched personnel to the City of Riverton Yard Waste Facility off of Smith Road just after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Heavy black smoke was visible throughout the facility and large flames consumed the recycling yard. Firefighters extinguished the blaze shortly after arriving on scene.
Landfill employees told County 10 that some of their heavy equipment had been damaged in the fire. Employees also confirmed that there were no staff injuries sustained due to the fire.
