(Fremont County, WY) – Former Fremont County resident Skyler Quiver was sentenced yesterday, August 29, at a sentencing hearing held before the Honorable Judge Scott W. Skavdahl, for sexual abuse of a person incapable of consent.
Quiver was sentenced to 70 months imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $615.07 in restitution and a $100 special assessment fee.
Quiver received this sentence due to the reported sexual assault of an intoxicated 13-year-old victim that occurred in June of 2012 in Ethete, a case which was closed at the time when DNA evidence did not match that of the initial suspect.
However, a routine search of the FBI Combined DNA Index System (“CODIS”) database in 2021 led to a DNA association between biological evidence collected from that victim, and a convicted offender submitted by the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri, later identified as Quiver.
Quiver, who was three years older than the victim at the time of the assault, initially claimed the acts were consensual, but, during an interview in 2023 when FBI agents asked him if it was possible that the victim was so intoxicated that she might not have remembered, Quiver replied, “yes.”
Around the time of that interview, Quiver was also finishing up a 50 month prison term from previous 2019 sexual abuse charge that he pled “guilty” to in October of 2021.
