(Ethete, WY) – Beatrice Willis was sentenced to 65 months imprisonment for felony distribution of methamphetamine at her sentencing hearing held on December 19, before the Honorable Judge Kelly H. Rankin in the U.S. District Court of Cheyenne.
She was also sentenced to 3 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $500 in community restitution, as well as a $100 special assessment fee.
The maximum sentence for a felony methamphetamine distribution charge is 20 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $1M.
Willis was charged and sentenced after a drug trafficking investigation was conducted on the Wind River Reservation and in the District of Wyoming, original court filings state.
The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation received information back in October of 2023 that Willis was distributing controlled substances, and was later able to successfully secure a transaction for 2 ounces (approximately 58 grams) of methamphetamine from her, using the services of a confidential informant.
Willis originally pled “not guilty” to the charge at her May 24 initial appearance/arraignment hearing, but later changed that plea to “guilty” at a hearing held on June 25, and a sentencing hearing was set for September 13.
The sentencing hearing was reset twice before taking place yesterday, after various motions to continue.
