Fair week is one of Fremont County’s favorite traditions. From livestock shows and rodeos to exhibits, live entertainment, delicious fair food, and time spent with family and friends, it’s a week many people look forward to all year long. As the community comes together to celebrate, Fremont County Prevention encourages everyone to make safety part of the tradition.
Whether you’re meeting up with friends, enjoying live entertainment, or spending the day exploring the fairgrounds, planning ahead can make all the difference. If alcohol is part of your plans, choose to drink responsibly, arrange a safe ride home, and look out for the people you’re with.
Making responsible choices isn’t about taking away from the fun. It’s about making sure everyone gets to enjoy the week and return home safely.
Fair week is also a wonderful opportunity for adults to lead by example. Children and teens are always watching how the adults in their lives celebrate. Demonstrating moderation, making responsible transportation plans, and looking out for others sends a powerful message that fun and responsibility go hand in hand.
If someone in your group has had too much to drink, step in. Offer to help them find a safe ride or encourage them to wait until they’re sober before getting behind the wheel. One simple decision can prevent a tragedy.
Most importantly, take care of one another. Check in with your friends and family, stay aware of your surroundings, and don’t hesitate to speak up if someone needs help.
The best fair memories are the ones everyone gets to share afterward.
