A media release from the Riverton Police Department has confirmed that there was a fatal vehicle accident early Sunday morning just west of Riverton.
RPD responded at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, October 28th to a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 26, near Lewis Road. According to a witness, the vehicle “lost control” and it appeared the driver was “halfway ejected.”
The deceased and only occupant of the vehicle has been identified as 34-year-old Shane Limpy.
The Riverton Police Department confirmed that Limpy was wearing his seatbelt during the crash.
Officers said he was driving a 2017 Nissan Titan, that ultimately came to a rest 80-90 yards off of the road and into a ditch near the intersection of Highway 26 and Lewis Road, breaking a stop sign in the process.
Attempts to resuscitate the driver on the scene were unsuccessful. Toxicology test results should be available from the Fremont County Coroner in the next few weeks.
