(Shoshoni, WY) – On April 6, 2026, at approximately 1542 hours, units from Fremont County Fire Protection District responded to a reported gas leak in the area of 5th Street in Shoshoni, at the request of Black Hills Energy.
Firefighters from Shoshoni Fire Department (Battalion-14), Missouri Valley Fire (Battalion-4), and Central Fire (Battalion-1) responded to the scene. Upon arrival, crews confirmed the presence of a natural gas leak and quickly established a safety perimeter.
Nearby residents were advised to avoid the immediate area as a precaution. Black Hills Energy remained on scene and worked to isolate and mitigate the leak while fire personnel monitored conditions to ensure scene safety.
The Shoshoni Police Department assisted on scene with traffic control. No injuries have been reported at this time. Fremont County Fire Protection District reminds the public that if you smell natural gas, leave the area immediately and call 911 from a safe location. Do not attempt to locate the source of the leak or use any devices that could create a spark.
