(Fremont County, WY) – On May 3, 2026, at approximately 1920 hours, Fremont County Fire Protection District responded to a reported grass fire in the 30 block of Lost Wells Butte Drive.
Firefighters from Central Fire (Battalion 1), Morton-Kinnear Fire (Battalion 5), Midvale Fire (Battalion 8), and Missouri Valley Fire (Battalion 4) responded to the incident. Upon arrival, crews encountered an active grass fire burning in light to moderate fuels.
The fire was contained to approximately 4.9 acres. Crews worked quickly to establish containment lines and extinguish remaining hot spots, preventing further spread.
Preliminary investigation indicates the fire originated from a trash can and spread to surrounding vegetation after getting out of control.
No injuries were reported at the time of this incident.
Fremont County Fire Protection District reminds the public to use caution when disposing of ashes or burning materials, especially during dry conditions, as fires can spread rapidly.
