At approximately 4:51 PM on March 4, units from the Fremont County Fire Protection District were dispatched to a reported grass fire off of Highway 26 in the Kinnear area.
Morton-Kinnear Fire (Battalion 5) arrived on scene and located a small grass fire estimated at approximately 0.10 acres. The fire was determined to have originated from a burn pile that escaped due to windy conditions.
After assessing the situation, Battalion 5 personnel were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, and all additional responding units from Midvale Fire (Battalion 8), Central Fire (Battalion 1), and Pavilion Fire (Battalion 7) were canceled prior to arrival.
No injuries were reported.
Residents are reminded to use caution when burning debris, especially during windy conditions, as fires can quickly escape and spread into surrounding vegetation.
