(Fremont County, WY) – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Fremont County Search and Rescue are actively searching for a 42-year-old man in the area of “Tough Creek” at Boyson Reservoir, the FCSO shared in a release issued today, August 14.
“At around 5:07 pm on 8/13/25, the FCSO Dispatch Center was alerted that a man had gone into the water chasing his boat that was being blown away from shore by strong winds from a sudden afternoon thunderstorm,” the release informs. “The man was witnessed swimming towards the boat in very rough water with large waves and high winds.”
The release goes on to state that witnesses on the shore saw the man go under and he was not seen again. The search efforts were suspended at around 10 PM and resumed this morning.
Resources from Shoshoni PD, Shoshoni Fire, Wyoming Game and Fish, and Wyoming State Parks all responded to the scene to assist Deputies and Search and Rescue crews.
“The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office would ask any boaters to stay away from the south side of the Tough Creek Campground to allow Search crews to work in the area.”
The FCSO stated that no further information is available for release at this time. County 10 will provide updates as we obtain them.
