(Fremont County, WY) – While voters prepare for the Aug. 18 primary, another election deadline is approaching for the nonpartisan races that will appear on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot.
The candidate filing period for Fremont County school boards and special districts opened Aug. 5 and continues through Aug. 24.
As of Monday, Aug. 10, the following candidates had already filed:
- Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees: Craig Tolman
- Lower Wind River Conservation District: Ron Lucas and Scott D. Pettit
- Dubois Fire District: Michael P. Codevilla and Gary Bradbury
- Fremont Fire District: John “Red” Fyler, Kelly Gardner, and Paul J. Downey
- Fremont County School District 25: Jody Ray and Terry Cantrell
- Lander Senior Citizen Service District: David Brinda, Joe Henry, and Patricia Kopriva
- Shoshoni Senior Citizen Service District: Teresa Taylor
- Dubois Cemetery District: Rosemary Graff
- Mountain View Cemetery District: Gerri Boesch, Robert B. Davis, and Rose Stanbury
Open seats
Numerous local school board and special district seats are open for filing for the General Election.
In Fremont County School District 1 (Lander) and FCSD 2 (Dubois), there are four four-year seats available on the school board, along with one two-year unexpired term.
In FCSD 6 (Wind River) there are three four-year seats open and one two-year unexpired term.
There are two four-year seats open in FCSD 14 (Wyoming Indian) and FCSD 21 (Fort Washakie), three four-year seats open in FCSD 25 (Riverton), and four four-year seats open in FCSD 24 (Shoshoni).
In FCSD 38 ( Arapahoe), there are two four-year seats open and one two-year unexpired term.
There are three seats open on the Central Wyoming College Board of Trustees: two representing Sub-District 2 and one representing Sub-District 4, all for four-year terms.
Positions are also up for election in the Dubois, Mountain View and Shoshoni-Lysite cemetery districts; Dubois-Crowheart, Lower Wind River and Popo Agie conservation districts; Dubois, Fremont County and Jeffrey City fire protection districts; and the Shoshoni, Lander and Riverton senior citizen service districts.
