UPDATE: Newly elected Riverton Fire Department Chief Jesse Cassity has provided updates on the structure fire from this afternoon.
The fire took place in an active church building (Iglesia de Dios Restauración church) located at 118 S 2nd Street West near Main Street, and Chief Cassity stated that it was a “room and contents fire that extended into the attic.” The exact origin is still under investigation by RFD.
The call came in at 11:39 AM late this morning, and crews were able to knock out the fire in about 20-25 minutes, Chief Cassity also shared. In total, “17 firemen, five pieces of Riverton Fire District apparatus, the Riverton Police Department and EMS” were all on-scene.
No injuries were reported, and structural damage was minimal, Chief Casity added.
“We were able to make a good save on the structure, so they should be able to rebuild.”
(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police Department has shared that fire crews are currently addressing a structure fire “near Main St. & S 2nd West,” according to a post shared on their Facebook page at 12:12 PM on January 21.
“Watch for emergency vehicles on way to help to put out the fire,” the post advises.
