(Laramie, WY) – Former Wyoming Cowgirl basketball player Marquelle Dent has been hired to join the University of Wyoming coaching staff for the 2025-26 season as a Special Assistant.
Dent graduated from UW in 2016 and was a fan-favorite on the basketball court. She is 17th in program history with 1,337 points and is second all-time in assists with 514. She is the only former Cowgirl to have at least 1,000 career points, 500 career assists and 175 career steals. She was a two-time All Mountain West Team selection and a 2015 WBCA Honorable Mention All-America honoree.
Marquelle turned from athlete to coach, first at Cheyenne Central High School. Eventually she would spend the 2021-22 season at Northern Colorado University in Greeley followed by three seasons as an assistant coach at Denver University. Dent went to high school in Denver at Regis Jesuit. While with DU she helped the Pioneers earn 18th in the nation in 3-point percentage and had two student-athletes get All-Summit League honors.
