(Albany County, WY) – The Albany County Sheriff’s Office and Albany County Search & Rescue group were paged Monday afternoon to a report of a pair of lost hikers in the Snowy Range Mountain recreation area. While responding, a second call came in about two additional lost hikers in the same area. Thanks to the recovery team efforts, all four were located safely.
On June 22, 2026, at approximately 1:47 p.m., Albany County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the Reservoir Lake area in the Snowy Range Mountains following a report of two hikers who had become disoriented and lost. Albany County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was activated and responded to assist with rescue efforts.
While responding, the Laramie Area Records and Communications (LARC) team established contact with the hikers and maintained communication with them while rescue teams navigated toward their location. During the incident, information was received that two additional hikers had also become lost in the same area.
At approximately 5:35 p.m., rescue teams made contact with all four individuals and safely escorted them back to the trailhead. Rescue efforts concluded at approximately 8:29 p.m. with all subjects safely off the mountain and no injuries reported.
