(Riverton, WY) – Riverton Mayor Tim Hancock administered the oath of office to the founding members of the new Riverton Youth Council this week.
The group includes Aurora Baldes, Kaitlyn Bower, Terak Brown, Danie Erb, Tierney Faubion, Royce Hancock, Hunter Masters, Kapri Miller, James Pierson, and Riddik Robinson.
Hancock referred to them as the “framers of the future,” since they will be responsible for creating the bylaws for the Riverton Youth Council – an organization that could be in place for decades to come.
“My hope is (that), 20 years from now, you’ll be able to look back and say, ‘Hey, I was a part of that – I was one of the group that first decided what the youth council was going to do,’” Hancock said.
“You can do a lot with this, and we just hope (that) you rise to the occasion – and I know you will. Each of you are very phenomenal individuals and youth in our community. … We have a lot of faith in you. We believe you can do it. You have a lot of potential.”
The oath of office for the Riverton Youth Council reads as follows:
“I, as a member of the Riverton Youth Council, commit to serving our community with respect, integrity, and enthusiasm. I pledge to listen to my peers, share ideas thoughtfully, and work together to make Riverton a better place for all.”
