The Fremont County Fair Horse Show began Friday as young riders showcased their skills during the first day of the Horse Show. This year’s show is held in memory of Laurie Gardner and her lifelong dedication to horses and horsemanship.
Friday includes competition in Youth Showmanship and Halter classes. Followed by youth riders competing in western riding events like team roping, goat tying, pole bending, reining, breakaway roping, and barrel racing.
The Fremont County Fair Horse Show continues Saturday, July 20th.
The day kicks off bright and early at 8:00 a.m. with a slate of Youth Performance and Timed Events. Spectators can expect to see ranch sorting and working cow horse, showcasing the teamwork and training between horse and rider.
Following the morning events, the focus shifts to Western classes, with riders competing in Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, and Ranch Riding. These classes emphasize the horse’s smoothness, responsiveness, and overall suitability for ranch work.
As show moves along, head over to the Sunset Arena for all Youth Trail classes, where riders navigate a course designed to simulate obstacles encountered on a trail ride.
The Horse Show culminates with the English classes. Riders will demonstrate their skill and precision in Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Hack, and Hunt Seat Equitation.
