The Wyoming Weed & Pest Council recently recognized the work of several Fremont County Weed & Pest workers at its annual award ceremony.
The Council presented the Everett Johnson Award to FCWP’s District Supervisor, Aaron Foster, to recognize his outstanding weed and pest management practices and significant contributions within the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council. Aaron also received an award from National Invasive Species Management (NAISMA) for his long-standing leadership in the development and success of introducing biological controls in Wyoming. His mentorship to the rest of the invasive species managers throughout the United States is well respected.
Olivia Maxwell, Program Manager, earned the Certified District Supervisor certificate at the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council Conference. This certification takes two years to accomplish and is required for leadership positions within the Wyoming Weed and Pest.
Mike Wille, Assistant Supervisor, has dedicated 35 years to curbing the spread of invasive weeds! Mike has implemented a large-scale Russian olive control program for Bureau of Rec., he has written and been awarded multiple SAC grants for leafy spurge, Russian knapweed and Russian olive projects throughout eastern Fremont County. Mike has served on many Council Committees and currently serves on the Budget and Finance Committee for the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council. He has always played a role in training seasonal staff. Mike lends his leadership to current and former colleagues who are still active in noxious weed management activities outside of the Weed and Pest through his membership in the Wyoming Weed and Management Association. Fremont County is grateful to have such a dedicated team member.
