(Lander, WY) – The Fremont County Commission received a quarterly report this week from Frontier Ambulance Director of Operations Diane Lane.
For the first quarter of 2026 – which includes the first three months of the year – Lane said Frontier completed 1,284 transports for Fremont County.
For the month of January, 589 transports were recorded, including:
- 279 – or 47 percent – 911 responses
- 127 – or almost 22 percent – inter-facility transfers
- 183 – or 31 percent – calls that were canceled or refused
“There’s quite a few times that we get paged out and we get cancelled rather than rolling out, (or) we pull up on scene and they cancel you,” Lane explained, referring to the last number on the list.
In February, Lane said almost 50 percent of calls were 911 responses, almost 20 percent were inter-facility transfers, and almost 31 percent were canceled or refused.
In March, 50 percent of calls were 911 responses, 24 percent were inter-facility transfers, and almost 26 percent were canceled or refused, she said.
She concluded her presentation by reporting that Frontier was able to respond to calls within 20 minutes or less about 77 percent of the time during the first quarter of the year.
Inter-facility
After hearing Lane’s report, Commissioner Larry Allen pointed out that Frontier is doing “quite a few” inter-facility transfers.
Further, Commissioner Mike Jones said, if canceled and refused calls were removed from the list of statistics, the inter-facility category would account for an even greater percentage of the total.
“Is that mostly between Riverton and Lander?” Jones asked
Most of the inter-facility transfers represent transports between SageWest Health Care facilities, Lane confirmed, but that category also includes rides to Casper or to area nursing homes and hospice centers.
