A 14-year-old middle school student from Gillette is facing 9 counts of attempted murder following an incident this week at Sage Valley Middle School.
The male student brought two handguns and 36 rounds of ammunition to school. According to the Basin Radio Network in Gillette, the boy threatened to shoot a student and staff member.
The 14-year-old is now facing 9 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, each count a felony and punishable by life of imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000. The boy obtained the two firearms, a.40 caliber handgun and 9-mm handgun from his parents.
After a student reported the boy to school authorities, the school was placed on lockdown for just over an hour and police arrested the 14-year-old.
There were no injuries in the incident.
