(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center has hired Cindy Olson Roden to serve as its new Executive Director.
Olson Roden was born in Riverton, where she operated her business the Travel Place Inc. for two decades and also served on the Riverton Airport Board “for a couple of years.”
She and her husband moved back to Riverton five months ago after about eight years living in Gillette, where Olson Roden said she spent six years serving on the steering committee of the Gillette Area Leadership Institute – an entity of the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce.
“I’m hoping to bring that experience, and just all my lifelong experience … to the Chamber here in Riverton,” she told the Riverton City Council last week, adding, “We’re super glad to be back.”
In a press release, Olson Roden said she is “excited to be in this new position, as I am very passionate about our community, maintaining and building our local businesses, tourism and economic development.”
Looking ahead, she said she plans to “continue the hard work” current Chamber leaders have been engaged in over the past several months.
That work began before Olson Roden’s first official day on the job, Interim Chamber Director Julie Buller said, explaining that they both attended the Wyoming Working Together Conference this month in Rock Springs.
“Our new Executive Director took her last two days of vacation with her previous employer to go to that conference with me,” Buller said, noting that their registration costs were covered by a grant from the Wyoming State Chamber of Commerce. “So that tells you how devoted and dedicated she is (to) this position.”
