The Worland girls, led by first-place runner Ava Tapia, won the Lander Invitational Cross Country meet held at the Lander Country Club Thursday afternoon with 34 points. The host Lady Tigers were second with 58.
Mountain View won the boys’ division with 40 points. The Tigers were third with 74.
There were 10 teams in competition at the meet.
Riverton freshman Robin Clapp was the highest Fremont County placer, taking second with a time of 19:53.32. Abigail Jubber of Lander was third. Fellow Lady Tiger Savannah Taylor was sixth, and Riverton’s Kendra Bott finished ninth.
Wind River’s Glorian Blackbear had a solid race, finishing in sixth place to lead all Fremont County boys in 17:18.16. Lander freshman Chase Hartpence posted the fastest time of his young career, three seconds behind Blackbear in 17:21.18; he finished seventh.
