Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon is planning to host a “grizzly summit” meeting with Montana Governor Steve Bullock and Idaho Governor Brad Little.
The Casper Star-Tribune reported Thursday that Gordon has met with the governors and would like to continue discussions about the growing population of grizzly bears, and discussing a proposed grizzly hunt.
Last fall, a proposed grizzly hunt in Wyoming was blocked by a Federal District Court judge in Montana.
Increasing conflicts between bears and humans have raised questions about the federal government’s management policies of the bears.
The grizzly population in the greater Yellowstone area is over 700.
