Tuesday afternoon, Riverton Police responded to a complaint of a vehicle break-in and theft on the 200 block of Main Street.
The vehicle was apparently parked on Main overnight, and the owner reported missing a handgun that had been inside.
The gun was identified as a .380 Smith and Wesson.
Just over two weeks ago, RPD responded to a vehicle break-in on Elizabeth Drive, in which a pistol was also stolen.
It was not immediately known if the vehicle was locked or not. Local law enforcement reminds residents to keep their doors locked, especially at night, and to take valuables with you whenever possible.
