Lander will host two exciting events this weekend, bringing athletes, spectators, families, and four-legged competitors to town. The Pedigree Stage Stop Dog Sled Race returns February 6–7, alongside Rising Stars Gymnastics’ Sweetheart Invite on February 7.
With the anticipated influx of visitors, local businesses should expect increased customer traffic throughout the weekend. The City of Lander encourages residents and business owners to help showcase Lander’s hospitality, community spirit, and the many qualities that make Lander a great place to live and visit.
The Pedigree Stage Stop’s popular Meet the Mushers event will take place at a new location this year—City Park—on Friday, February 6, from 5:30–7:30 PM. Community members are invited to meet the mushers and their dogs, learn about the sport, and enjoy a bonfire and food trucks at this free event. Parking is available along Fremont Street or near the Parks and Recreation building, with a short walk east of the playground. Eighteen mushers are competing in this year’s multi-stop race, with Lander hosting the final two stages.
Race fans can watch Stage 6 on February 6 and Stage 7 on February 7, both starting at 9 AM. The primary start location is the Louis Lake Road Parking Lot on Highway 28 at South Pass, with an alternate start at Bruce’s Parking Lot in Sinks Canyon if weather requires. Spectators are encouraged to carpool, as parking is limited, and to dress warmly.
On Saturday, February 7, Rising Stars Gymnastics hosts the Sweetheart Invite at Lander Valley High School. The event will welcome approximately 120 gymnasts from around the state.
Competition sessions begin at 8:20 AM, 10:20 AM, 12:50 PM, and 3:20 PM. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and free for kids ages five and under.
