A group of citizens has proposed a 1/2 cent sales tax be added to the ballot in August. Fremont County commissioners have required a petition be presented before allowing the tax to be added as an item for Fremont County voters to decide on. The tax would be used for economic development and distributed across the municipalities in the County. You can read more about it here.
If you would like to support the tax, Ashley Strickland the Executive Director of the Riverton Chamber of Commerce will be present at the Hampton Inn in Riverton until 5pm today, Tuesday April 14th. Many others are collecting signatures and you can get a list by contacting the Riverton Chamber at 307-856-4801. Other opportunities, with social distancing measures in place, for signature gathering will be announced as they are scheduled.
