It’s that time of year when many of us take a moment to reflect. Thanksgiving gives us a chance to look back with gratitude and look ahead with excitement — and we’re doing a little of both at County 10.
For everyone here at County 10, the recurring theme this year is how thankful we are for each of you.
Without each person who reads or shares a story, or listens to one of our radio stations, buys from a local advertiser, sends a tip, or engages with a contest, etc., we wouldn’t be here. Our Mission is to connect our community, and I hope we live up to it.
This year, our GM Scott Fuller and I got to spend time with other small publishers at the national Local News Sustainability Summit in St. Louis. The discussions centered around how critical local news is to thriving communities – especially in rural areas like ours. It’s not always the big stories that matter the most in local news. Sometimes, and probably more often, it’s the little stories, the features, the smiling kids, the wisdom of local elders, and the basic info we all need to be connected to this place we call home.
Even with a small team, we try to be there for it all. To be there for you when it counts. To connect you to everything going on around the communities of Fremont County. It’s not an easy job, but our team loves doing it.
There were over 300 digital-first news outlets at the conference, but only a very small handful of organizations like County 10. That’s not to toot our own proverbial horn, but very few other hyper-local news outlets are able to cover so much of their communities – and that’s thanks to you. Your support is better than a Red Bull in our office.
This year, because of you, County 10 continued to see record audience numbers with MILLIONS of pageviews on over 5,500 stories published to date.
Our radio stations 97.5 KDLY “The Brand,” and 105.1 Jack FM continue, for the third year in a row, to be the #1 and #2 commercial radio stations in Fremont County, according to Nielsen ratings.
We support ten full-time and two part-time employees, along with three dedicated contractors, all creating news and/or radio content. We are also part of two national news associations and the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters.
Our Broadcasting Staff was awarded eleven awards this last summer at the Annual Wyoming Association of Broadcasters Convention.
Our in-house Marketing Agency, Marketlocal, now has more than 100 small business clients in Fremont County and beyond.
I could go on and on, but I share these things in the spirit of saying “thank you.” Our success means we’re doing our job: keeping you connected.
So, Happy Thanksgiving Fremont County. Thank you to our incredible staff, and thank you to you, our community.
