(Lander, WY) – The City of Lander will conduct chip sealing on several blocks next week as part of ongoing efforts to extend the life of recently improved roadways.
Chip sealing is scheduled for Monday, August 24, in the following areas:
- 100 block of North 2nd Street
- 100 block of South 6th Street
- 300 block of Popo Agie Street
- 200 block of Cliff Street
- McFarlane Drive
- Bishop Randall Drive, east of the Emergency Room entrance to the end of Bishop Randall Drive (the Emergency Room entrance will remain open)
Residents and businesses in these areas are asked to remove all vehicles from the roadway during the scheduled work. Chip sealing will cover the entire width of the street, and parked vehicles on the street will prevent crews from completing the work.
To prepare for chip sealing, street sweeping will take place Friday, August 21. Please remove vehicles from the roadway.
On August 26 and 27, construction crews will conduct brooming operations and vehicles will need to be moved. The City appreciates residents’ and businesses’ cooperation in keeping vehicles off the affected streets while crews complete this important maintenance work. Impacted residents and business owners will also receive a notification from the contractor with additional details about the project. 
Chip sealing applies a protective wearing surface to the roadway, helping preserve the pavement and significantly extend its useful life. The streets included in this project have recently received new or improved underground infrastructure. With proper maintenance, the City expects these infrastructure and roadway investments to serve the community for 30 to 50 years.
