(Lander, WY) – The McFarlane Utilities Project — a major infrastructure upgrade for the City of Lander — is entering its final phase. As of August 2025, paving has been completed and McFarlane Drive will be reopening to through traffic next week. The new water line, sanitary sewer, and storm drain systems are now in place, with full project completion expected prior to November 2025. 
McFarlane Drive, located near McDonald’s, serves as a key connector between Highway 789 and Highway 287. The $1,097,972 project was funded 75% by the State Revolving Fund (SRF) and 25% by the City of Lander through 1% road improvement funds.
The work addressed infrastructure deficiencies, including replacing failing and undersized water lines that did not meet fire flows in the area, upgrading deteriorated storm drains, and improving roadway drainage. It also added a new sanitary sewer main within the public right-of-way by utilizing horizontal directional drilling to reduce impacts on traffic along Highway 287.
The project was designed and is being managed by Bryce Roberts, P.E., of Strike Consulting Group, with PCI serving as the contractor.
