(Fremont County, WY) – The Bureau of Land Management Lander Field Office is advising the public that the Crooks Mountain Road, specifically the south-east side of Crooks Mountain in Fremont County, is impassable due to heavy rains.
“While the Crooks Mountain Road is not a BLM maintained road, we know it’s a popular access route for getting to BLM public lands in the area, especially during hunting season,” said BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Jared Oakleaf. “We want the public to be informed when planning their trips.”
Motorized vehicle access into the area is still available on other routes, including the Happy Springs Oil Field Road, Fremont County Road 395.
The BLM reminds the public to use caution when traveling unmaintained roads as other hazards may be present. In addition, motorized travel on BLM public lands is limited to existing roads and crossing private lands, where no access easement exists, requires prior permission.
