(Fremont County, WY) – Two road projects are going to begin on the Wind River Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest on Monday, 5/12/25. The two projects are the Parque Creek slide repair on NFSR 504, and the burial of powerlines along NFSR 285, also known as the Horse Creek Road.
A temporary road closure will be in place for the Parque Creek Road (NFSR 504) from mile .09-4.2 starting Monday May 12th through September 1st. The closure prohibits driving or being on the road. This is for the safety of the public and the contractors alike. Contractors will be removing the road surface as well as unstable subsurface materials and replacing them with an engineered fill that will be less susceptible to sliding in the future.
Along the Horse Creek Road (NFSR 285) High Plains Power is going to be burying powerlines, making them more stable and less prone to outages during significant weather events. There are no closures planned for this project, however, short delays of up to 15-minutes may be experienced. Work is scheduled to begin Monday May 12th and will be completed by September 1st.
