Effective immediately, all roads and trails on about 9,100 acres of BLM managed lands within the Weiser Knoll fire perimeter in Fremont County are temporarily closed to all motorized travel.
The closure is necessary to protect public safety, prevent further resource damage, support fire rehabilitation, reduce the spread of invasive species, and minimize disturbance to wildlife and habitat during recovery.
“We’re taking this step to ensure public safety and protect the land as it recovers from the fire,” said Ruth Miller, Lander Field Office Manager. “Restricting motorized access allows rehabilitation efforts to succeed and helps prevent further damage to soils, vegetation, and wildlife habitat.”
The closure will remain in effect until rehabilitation objectives are met and public safety can be ensured. The closure order and map can be viewed online.
