(Fremont County, WY) – A high-speed chase involving multiple law agencies and one vehicle with three occupants took place in the Fort Washakie area Sunday afternoon, October 27.
While monitoring the police scanner, County 10 overheard the initial reports of the chase a little after 2 PM, which at the time was in the Milford area north of Lander.
Speeds soon reached 108 mph as the chase headed closer to Fort Washakie, with scanner traffic indicating the vehicle drove past Fort Washakie on Highway 287, before turning back around.
The chase maintained speeds of over 100 mph, and multiple spike strip deployments were attempted before it came to a close on South Fork Road around 2:30 PM, where a vehicle rollover was reported to EMS. (It is not confirmed at this time if the rollover was caused by the spike strips.)
Scanner traffic went on to indicate that there were three occupants in the vehicle that was being pursued before the rollover.
The three occupants were detained, and their identities/injuries sustained in the rollover are unknown at this time.
The Wind River Police Deparmtent (BIA), Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, and Wyoming Highway Patrol were all involved in the chase, with scanner traffic stating that the Lander Police Department was ready to be positioned north of Lander in the event the chase came into town.
County 10 will reach out to the involved law enforcement agencies and provide updates if/when they become available.
