UPDATE: Chief Hurtado has shared the following additional details:
Riverton Police Department assisted BIA for a vehicle pursuit involving a possible stolen truck. The pursuit entered Riverton where it traveled though the south side of the city. The pursuit ended near City Park. The vehicle is believed to be a stolen truck reported a couple weeks ago. Our officers have been searching for the stolen truck throughout Riverton since it was reported stolen in June. We believe the vehicle used in this pursuit into Riverton from Wind River is the same stolen truck
UPDATE: RPD Chief Eric Hurtado has confirmed that an arrest was made and that they “believe the vehicle was possibly the stolen truck” from a week ago.
(Riverton, WY) – Eyewitnesses have reported that a high-speed chase occurred through residential neighborhoods in Riverton early Sunday afternoon, July 6, which scanner traffic indicates has come to a close.
Details are limited at this time, but witness videos shared with County 10 show the chase going through City Park and onto other neighborhoods in the area. One message sent to County 10 stated that the vehicle was one of those reported stolen earlier in the week, although this is unconfirmed with law enforcement at this time.
Scanner traffic also indicated that there is one individual in custody, but that is also unconfirmed with law enforcement at this time.
County 10 has reached out to RPD to obtain more details, which will be added to this post as we obtain them.
