(Riverton, WY)- The Central Wyoming men dropped both games last weekend in their Winter Classic Tournament, presented by the Wind River Hotel and Casino.
Friday, the Rustlers fell to Utah State Eastern 67-46 before being blown out in the second half by a talented Salt Lake Community College team 99-68. The Rustlers led the entire first half until a late 3-point shot by Salt Lake lifted the visitors to a 45-43 lead at the half.
The Rustlers were outsized by a wide margin, but played well in the opening half, hitting key treys and working the ball inside.
Salt Lake was cold in the first half but warmed up in the final 20 minutes. They hit 19 of 34 from beyond the arc, an impressive 56% on 3-point shots.
Central was led by Julian Ormond with 20 points, Jordan Peel added 13 and Isaac Patik 11.
Danny Young led the visitors with 24 points, including five 3-pointers. Reggie Larsen scored 15 off the bench, Makuei Riek had 14, Daye Kada had 11, and Nick Clark had 10.
The Rustlers finish out the 2025 portion of the season at the Northwest Classic in Powell beginning Friday.
They open with Miles City at 3:30 on Friday, then face Dawson Community College at noon on Saturday.
