Hugh Edward Ridgley, age 87, passed away on April 2, 2019 at Wind River Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Riverton, Wyoming.
Hugh was born on December 5, 1931 in Ft. Washakie, Wyoming to Scott and Blanche (Shakespear) Ridgley. He attended school in Ft. Washakie. Hugh gave approximately 14 years to military service; serving with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict, United States Army and the Army National Guard.
He married Marcella June Duran and together they raised 7 children. He was a farmer and rancher, raising sheep and a few head of cows. Later in life, he attended Central Wyoming College and obtained an Associates of Arts degree. He served as a Tribal Judge for approximately 17years. He encouraged his children to seek higher education and to live the Native Ways.
Hugh is survived by sons, Benjamin Ridgley, Augustine Ridgley, and Eugene Ridgley; a daughter, Blanche Ridgley; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Mary Goggles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marcella Ridgley; 3 sons, Michael Ridgley, Royce Ridgley and Scott Ridgley; grandchildren, Josh Ridgley, Thelma Rose Ridgley, Chelsea Mary Friday and Rani Ridgley; a brother, Eugene Ridgley, Sr.; and a sister, Thelma Hungary.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Blue Sky Hall, Ethete, Wyoming beginning at 5:30 PM, Rosary and Wake Services will begin at 7:00 PM. with Catholic clergy officiating.
Overnight Wake Services will be held at the Ridgley homestead beginning at approximately 10:00 PM until Saturday morning at 8:30 AM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ethete, Wyoming with Catholic clergy celebrating. Burial will follow in the H. Ridgley Cemetery.
A Feast and Give-away will be held at Blue Sky Hall, Ethete, Wyoming following the burial.
