A celebration of life for Alex J. Jones, 85, will be held June 7th at 1pm at the Elks lodge in Riverton, WY (205 E Main St). Mr. Jones passed away peacefully at his home in Riverton, Wyoming, on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Alex was born on September 8, 1939, in St. John Township, Indiana, the son of James T. and Clara Rose (Benedict) Jones. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.
He was baptized in the Catholic faith.
On August 12, 1961, Alex married the love of his life, Emma Lee White, in Casper, Wyoming.
Alex had a long and dedicated career with the Intermountain Iron Workers, working from 1973 until his retirement in 1991. During his career, he lived in both Rock Springs and Riverton, Wyoming.
Outside of work, Alex enjoyed spending time outdoors—he was an avid hunter and found joy in farming and raising birds. He was a member of the Wind River Fly Wheelers and enjoyed restoring antique tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lee Jones of Riverton, Wyoming; sons, Richard (Tracy) Jones, Ted (Eileen Davis) Jones and Robert Jones all of Riverton, Wyoming; brother, Claude (Hilda) Jones of Indiana; sister, Rose Marie (Edward) Meszaros of Alabama; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tamie Lee Jones; brothers, Julian, John and James Jones.
