In loving memory, Bernadette Bartell

Bernadette Helene Bartell, a woman of unwavering kindness and strength passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2025, at the age of 91. Bernadette was born on February 18, 1934, in Ysleta, Texas. She married her college sweetheart, Hank Bartell, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for family and friends. Bernadette (Granny) was a pillar of encouragement for her entire family, always offering her cheering presence to support their endeavors, and celebrate their achievements. Her dining room table, festooned with the bounty and beautiful flowers from her own garden, was a sanctuary where countless family gatherings were held over the years. Her famous Granny rolls continue to bless our tables, a testimony to her love and skill. Beyond her family, Bernadette impacted the lives of busloads of children who learned to read and write under her cheerful instruction. After retiring from a lifelong teaching career, Bernadette enjoyed walking, playing bridge, and generously using her time and talents to serve her Lander community with her PEO sisters and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In her later years, Bernadette resided at Legacy Village in Salt Lake City, Utah, near her youngest daughter, Kimberly. Bernadette continued to be known through her last days for her warm heart, her infectious smile, and her ability to make everyone feel special.
Bernadette is now reunited with her beloved husband of 53 years, Henry Bartell. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and a spirit that will forever be etched in the hearts of her four grateful children, Henry (Tawnya), Kathy (Joe), Steve (Misty), and Kimberly (Derek); her eight grandchildren, Ben (Jessica), Alexandra (Tommy), Dan (Danielle), Bryan (Anne), Andrew, Haley (Chris), Arcadia (Raphael), and Annelise; six great grand-children; as well as her beloved sisters, Rosemary and Gretchen, and their families.
In lieu of flowers, Bernadette requested that donations be made in her memory to the PEO Chapter Q Educational Loan Fund for Lander Wyoming @ 37 Tensleep Rd., Lander, Wyoming 82520. A rosary and funeral mass will be held on June 28th at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander. The rosary begins at 10am. The funeral mass is at 11am with lunch to follow in the fellowship hall.
