Flora Etta Swallow, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2025 at the Sage West Hospital in Riverton, Wyoming. She was 70 years old.
She was born on January 23, 1953 in Lander, Wyoming. The daughter of the late John T and Jessie W Swallow.
She was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation. In her younger years she attended Mill Creek school and later on went to high school at Lander Valley. She then married Patrick C’Bearing where they lived in Idaho and had 3 girls; the late Julieanna, Patricia, and LaWayne C’Bearing. Then she went on to attend school at Sipi in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After that she moved back home to the Wind River reservation where she had her 3 other kids; the late Byron Brown and daughter Colleen Brown and son Colin Amos.
Flora’s passion in life was being a homemaker where she was an excellent fry bread maker, her family loved her fry bread! She also loved beading where she enjoyed giving her beadwork as gifts to her loved ones. Another one of her favorite things to do was going to the casino. But her whole life was her love and dedication she had for raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was recently taking care of 2 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children daughter Colleen Brown and son Colin Amos. Her granddaughters; Laterra & Summer Duran, Lawayne C’Bearing, Diane & Doris Amos. Her grandsons; Dustin Friday, BlueCloud Amos, Lane & LaSelle Brown. Her great grandchildren are; Nyzah, Sontee, & Ayanna Behan, Katelyn & Kaylena Duran and Uriah Hendryx of Utah. The great grandchildren she was raising are; Frances & Julian C’Bearing, Kemree Duran, LaMeere Hayman, Marsellus Underwood, Melba Dewey, and Isiah Coles. Sisters; Gloria Y. St.Clair, Laverne White, and Alice Piper. Brother, Nelson White. Nieces; Delphine Antelope, Darla Flores, Laura WallowingBull, Carol Iron, Clydeen & Shasta WallowingBull, Illa St.Clair, Gladys Tidzump, and Valinda Swallow. Roberta & Gail BigBack, Rebecca Threefingers, and LaRetha Pine of Montana. Nephews; Steve Amos, Lawrence Antelope, Edwin Jr. & Neil St.Clair. Junior Pine and Irvin RaisingSun of Montana. And numerous other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Also, in Oklahoma and Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her three daughters; Julieanna, Patricia, and LaWayne C’Bearing. Her son; Byron Brown. Her grandchildren; Kendra and Patrick C’Bearing. Her brothers; Reynold & Clyde WallowingBull and Dean Swallow. Her sisters; Florine Amos and Frances Swallow of Busby, MT. Also, other brothers and sisters.
A wake will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Blue Sky Hall in Ethete (490 Ethete Road, Ethete, WY 82520).
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Blue Sky Hall in Ethete (490 Ethete Road, Ethete, WY 82520), with interment following at Wallowing Bull Cemetery.
