In loving memory, Thomas Farris

Former Lander resident, Lander Valley High School graduate and KOVE announcer Thomas Lee Farris passed away peacefully on Nov 8, 2024 in Fort Worth, TX, at the age of 81.
Farris was born on Nov. 7, 1943, in Ponca City, OK, to Neil and Maxine Farris, who later lived in Lander from 1959-2000.
Farris was a 1962 graduate of what was then known as Fremont County Vocational High School. While a high school student, he was active in sports, clubs, student government and worked as an announcer at KOVE Radio.
He attended the University of Denver and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1966 with a degree in accounting. He then received his Juris Doctorate degree from Southern Methodist University in 1969.
After graduation, he relocated to Fort Worth and began his career with McDonald, Sanders, Wynn, Ginsburg, Phillips and Maddox. In 1979 he established his own law practice, teaming with several other attorneys over the years. In 1992, his daughter Tamara Farris Gordon joined this practice and remained until her death in March 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Tammy.
He is survived by his daughter Paige (Ed) Chisholm; grandchildren Tara and Patrick Gordon, and Farris and Kaylee Chisholm; brothers Clyde (Becky) Farris of West Linn, OR, and Scott (Patti) Farris of Sacramento, CA; and his sister Jan (Gil) Mallery of West Linn, OR along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held in Fort Worth at noon on December 14 at Greenwood Live Oak Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made in Tom's name to a charity of your choice.
