In loving memory, Vincent Goeckner

Vincent Goeckner, of Dubois, died Jan. 14, 2025, with his wife, Clare, by his side. He was 63 years old.
A memorial will be held June 7 from 2-4 p.m. at Dennison Lodge in Dubois.
Vincent Goeckner was born in Lynwood, Calif. and grew up in La Palma, Calif. He had a lifelong love of dogs and horses and enjoyed many years with his faithful companions.
He followed in his father’s footsteps in the Boy Scouts of America, becoming an Eagle Scout. He had many interests including music; he studied and graduated as a sound engineer.
Mr. Goeckner became a Los Angeles County deputy and participated in their Mounted Horse Division. Eventually he followed his family into the fire sprinkler industry. He was a long-time member of the Sprinkler Fitters UA Local 699, and an instructor in their apprenticeship program.
He discovered the Dubois area in the 1980s, Clare discovered the area in the 1990s. Eventually they met and fell in love, not only with Wyoming, but each other. They were delighted to retire, moving to Dubois in 2022 and enjoying their new home in the Painted Hills area. Never one to sit idle, Vincent became involved with the subdivision’s HOA, taking an active role in several committees. Shortly before his death, he had joined the board of the High Country Senior Center.
Always wanting to help a neighbor or his community, Mr. Goeckner used his vast knowledge, and wide range of equipment and tools to help with a project or just fix what needed fixing.
Survivors include his wife, Clare, of Dubois; his father, Larry, of Graham, Wash.; sister Theresa, of Las Vegas, Nev.; goddaughter Kalie Hyatt (Ryan) and godson Lex Koscielak; and many cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Beverly.
