Whitley Dawn Hill was born on March 13, 2000 at Lander Valley Hospital to Chris Hill and Warren Jorgenson. Her mother chose the name Dawn in memory of the time Whitley came into the world at 6:03am (the break of Dawn).
Whitley grew up on the Wind River Reservation and spent her early years with her Grandmother Elaine Hill/Friday. She also spent time playing with her siblings and her numerous cousins.
She was raised by her Aunt Sherrie Hill and Uncle Richard Burnett in Boulder Flats. She enjoyed her evenings playing basketball or being outside with her siblings. She attended Wyoming Indian Elementary and Middle School. In High-school she took an interest in Cross country and loved running, she then graduated from Sherman Indian High School.
After graduation, Whitley had hopes of attending college and being a botanist. Instead she took time off to explore the world as a young adult and met friends all over the country. Which she accumulated many close friends throughout the years.
She lived with her sisters, Jaidyn Bell and Shaynelle Hill, in The Carolinas. She took it upon herself to help raise her nephew and nieces while her sister was on Active duty.
Whitley then moved to Dallas, Texas to enjoy the city life. She made more new friends and new experiences. Whitley missed home often and decided to return back to the Wind River Reservation.
Whitley was a selfless person and cared for anyone that would cross her path. She enjoyed making people laugh and having a good time. Her family and friends would describe her as a kind, loving and a very funny person.
Her saying was, “I’m here for a good time, not a long time” while throwing up the peace sign.
