“In the summertime, when the weather is high, you can stretch right up and touch the sky…” (made you sing it!) It’s official! Summer is here, and it’s gonna be a hot one! Lovin’ the big blue skies and wide open spaces of Wyoming…sometimes scattered with a few boomer thunderstorms now and then. As unpredictably predictable as Wyoming can be, the great thing about it is that as you travel to and from your destinations, there are so many photo ops and stuff to see and do along the way.
Seems like a pretty big weekend for Riverton autocross and motocross races…the Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Powwow is also happening, and of course, there’s the Dubois Friday Night Rodeos. There’s a pretty big auction going on Saturday, plus did you know that your local museums are open every day? And don’t forget to check out the garage sales and your farmers’ markets in Riverton and Lander.
Wherever you’re out and about at these events, or roaming about in your neck o’ the woods, around the county, or the mountains, trails, lakes, rivers, and streams in this big beautiful state, enjoy the warm weekends, bring water with you, shop local, be safe, drive responsibly, take photos, but most of all…have fun!

Fremont County Racing Association is having a weekend of Race Days, today and Saturday out at the tracks at 43 Paradise Valley Road. Practice rounds start at 7:30 a.m.; races start after the Racers Meetings. A weekend pass is $10 per person; dry camping fee is $20 for the weekend. The Riverton Branch Library is having one of their Book Sales today from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. up in the Mezzanine, 1330 W. Park Avenue. The 64th Annual Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Powwow & Indian Relay Races starts today and runs through the weekend at the Shoshone Powwow Grounds, 14 Norkok, Ft. Washakie. Come on out and lift a mug to Pints for Pathways from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Cowfish, 148 Main Street in Lander. Tonight, you can learn about Wyoming Pathway’s Lander projects, including Johnny Behind the Rocks and the upcoming Challenge for Charities. Nothing says ‘Wyoming’ like a rodeo, and there’s all kinds of action at the Dubois Friday Night Rodeos throughout the summer season through August 23rd at the Clarence Allen Memorial Arena, 5639 Hwy 26. Best Autocross in the region! The Riverton Autocross Annual June Race will be held at the Wind River Hotel & Casino, today and Sunday! Registration and tech opens at 7:30 a.m. and runs until the driver’s safety meeting at 8:45 a.m…then it all goes hot at 9:00 sharp! Entries are $40.00 for one day, $60.00 for both days. Support your local growers and producers at your Saturday Farmers Markets! The Fremont County Master Gardeners Market is in Riverton from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the city hall parking lot (next to Chopstix) and the Lander Valley Farmers’ Market is from 9:00-11:30 a.m. on 3rd Street. Grab some healthy snacks for your packs and coolers!
