I am happy to announce that I am seeking re-election as your Fremont County Coroner. I have had the privilege to serve the people of Fremont County including the Wind River Reservation, for the past 24+ years in the capacity of Deputy Coroner, Chief Deputy Coroner/Administrative Officer, and as your elected Coroner. It is my sincere hope, that with your help, I can continue to serve the community that I love. This is truly my calling.
I am honored to have earned the support of our local medical communities, public health and prevention partners, fire department and EMS personnel, tribal affiliates, law enforcement partners, and most importantly, the families in this County that I have had the privilege of working with during their most difficult times. Your support is the true testament of the efficacy, honesty, and integrity that this coroner’s office provides.
During my term as Coroner, many changes have been made that directly benefit the residents of Fremont County. One of these changes was to require national certification for all coroner investigators. This ensures that Fremont County meets or exceeds the same level of investigative, medical, and legal standards that are required elsewhere in the country.
Another change was that of adding the position of a forensic pathologist to our staff. Instead of taking this service out-of-state, as was done previously, autopsies are performed in-house. This a substantial savings in fuel, deputy time, autopsy fees, etc., but more importantly, families have answers within hours, not weeks or months. Additionally, for the first time in Fremont County Coroner history, this office generates a revenue of approximately $100,000 per year by offering forensic services to surrounding counties. This includes forensic pathology, x-ray, and fingerprint identification. These funds are returned to the County General Fund, lessening the burden to the taxpayer.
I am very proud of the work that has been accomplished these last four years, and I look forward to continuing this momentum into the future.
