(Fremont County, WY) – A motorcycle wreck reported on July 31 led to one fatality, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary report posted on August 4.
The deceased has been identified as 67-year-old California man, Mark Byrd.
The crash occurred around 2:54 PM on Wyoming 135, in the area of milepost 29/30.
The WHP report states that Byrd’s motorcycle was “negotiating a right-hand curve on WY 135 when the motorcycle started to wobble.”
“The rider lost control of the bike, driving off the road and into the ditch. The motorcycle traveled about 400 feet before tripping and hitting the fence. The motorbike flipped at least twice, throwing the driver off the bike.”
“Speed/Driver Fatigue” was listed as a possible contributing factor, according to the report, and Byrd was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
No other parties were involved in the incident.
There have been 64 fatalities reported to date on Wyoming’s roadways in 2025.
