(Fremont County, WY) – The reported June 9 crash that occurred on US 20/US 26 outside of Shoshoni resulted in one death, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol preliminary report posted on June 16.
The deceased has been identified as 67-year-old Wyoming man Kent Richards.
The report states that the crash, which occurred around 1:03 PM near milepost 96.5, began when Richards was “westbound on US 20-26 negotiating a curve.”
Richard’s pickup then entered the eastbound lane of travel, where it impacted a combination unit on the driver’s side.
Richard’s truck then entered a passenger-leading spin, rolling backward off the westbound shoulder of the roadway before coming to a final resting position, the report concludes.
No possible contributing factors were listed in the report, which also states that road conditions were clear and Richards was wearing a seatbelt. The other driver was uninjured.
There have been 40 deaths reported on Wyoming roadways so far in 2025.
