All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
(Fremont County, WY) – The originally scheduled August 26 jury trial for Crowheart resident Quinlan (James) Hernandez has been reset for October 21, according to federal Court documents filed on July 29.
Hernandez was charged with four Counts of aggravated sexual abuse, two Counts of sexual abuse and three Counts of sexual abuse of a minor back in April, after a missing 14-year-old was located at his residence, whom he reportedly sexually/physically assaulted.
Hernandez pled “not guilty” to the charges on July 11, and the subsequent August 26 jury trial was set.
That trial was then later vacated through an ends of justice continuance after substitute counsel was appointed to Hernandez, whom he did not have time to confer with prior to the trial.
The Court then reset the jury trial for October 21, which the involved parties estimate will take 3-5 days.
Hernandez faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, up to $2,250,000 in fines, five years-to-life of supervised release, $45,000 in special assessment fees for the Justice Victims of Trafficking Act and $900 in other special assessment fees.
