Kelly Walsh came to Riverton Thursday night for a dual with the Lady Wolverines. The Lady Trojans dominated the match 39-12, winning five of the seven weight classes wrestled, with all but one match won by fall.
Kelly Walsh scored 12 points via forfeit.
Riverton’s phenomenal 100-pound wrestler Hailee Cooper had her first loss of the season in a match with Kelly Walsh’s Michelle Henman.
“I’m not sure if she was not feeling well,” Riverton head coach Robert Thoman said. “That girl dropped from 105 pounds. There’s a lot of pressure to stay undefeated; that pressure is off now.”
Autumn Osborne won with a second-period pin over Casper’s Olyvia Roscoe at 135 pounds, and Riverton’s talented 235-pound wrestler Aleah Marquez overpowered Kelly Walsh’s Stormy Tatro also with a second-period pin.
The best match of the girls’ portion of the dual came at 130 pounds, where Riverton’s Kayleigh Tillman battled Emily Mavern of Kelly Walsh to a close loss in a 5-3 decision.
Tillman led 3-1 for most of the match before Mavern escaped and scored a takedown to take the lead in the third period.
The Lady Wolverines wrestle at the Thoman Duals in Green River this weekend against teams from Kemmerer, Lyman, Mountain View, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Wheatland, and Worland, along with Rifle, Colorado.
