(Shoshoni, WY) – The Shoshoni Lady Blue improved their season record to 5-2 after winning two and losing one a three-day series at their own Wrangler Classic.
Shoshoni dropped their opening game to Saratoga 38-20 but rebounded with a 30-9 win over Meeteetse and a 47-42 come-from-behind win over Riverside.
In the game with the Lady Panthers the Wranglers tallied just seven points in the opening half, trailing Saratoga by 11 at the half.
The third period was more frustration for head coach Max Mill’s squad with a 2-point shot by Mayce Jarvis the only points of the period.
Trailing 28-9 it was too much to overcome in the final period.
Frustration was on the other end of the floor against Meeteetse with the Lady Blue taking an 18-2 lead at the half. They held the turnover laden Lady Longhorns to just a single first period basket and held them scoreless in the second.
In an interesting twist, Shoshoni didn’t attempt a free throw in the game.
The Riverside game was the best of the tournament for the Lady Blue. They trailed 14-7 after the opening period but clawed their way back to lead 21-18 at the half.
Shoshoni built a big lead, holding a 37-25 advantage entering the final period but the Lady Rebels quickly closed to make it interesting.
Shoshoni was hot from beyond the arc, hitting eight 3-pointers in the game, led by four from Jarvis, three by Addie Mason, and one from Eckley Winfield.
