(Ethete, WY) – The Wyoming Indian girls ran to first place in the Five Rivers Conference Cross Country Championships on the Chico Her Many Horses Course at Ethete. The Lady Chiefs placed five girls in the top 10, paced by a third-place finish by Marysa Trumbull.
The other top 10 finishers, who all earned All-Conference honors in the process, were Tristan Her Many Horses, Justice Isis, Takara Ferris, and Feather Spoonhunter.
Burlington ran away with the boys’ title behind a one-two finish from Kellen Winters and Connor Hoyt. Wyoming Indian’s Colton SunRhodes was third.
Wind River didn’t field enough runners to score as a team, but Glorian Blackbear finished in fifth place. Kaiden Moss of Wyoming Indian was also all-conference with a sixth-place finish.
In Class 3-A Regional action, Lander canceled the conference meet on Thursday due to rainy, cold conditions and the closure of South Pass, preventing teams from the Southwest from competing. They did not reschedule the meet.
Riverton traveled to Casper Natrona for the Class 4-A regional, but head coach Tann Gopp chose to enter his team in the junior varsity division and use it as a practice meet.
All three divisions of Wyoming prep cross country will be in Cheyenne this weekend for the state championships.
